STAUNTON – The restaurant Stacks in downtown Staunton is adding breakfast, celebrate Kline’s Dairy Bar’s 75th anniversary with discounted cones; and there’s a new health boutique coming to downtown Staunton — here’s the buzz.
Stacks
Stacks Food and Catering is changing its hours and adding breakfast to its menu.
Owner Peter Harrison opened the spot last fall. The deli restaurant features large sandwiches, catering services and large meals to-go.
Starting March 13, the restaurant will be switching gears by adding a breakfast menu and opening Saturdays.

Harrison said he wanted to offer breakfast to the businesses around his restaurant. Stacks is across from the old train station in downtown Staunton in the American Hotel, in the former location of the American Cafe, which closed late last year.
Starting March 13, the restaurant will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with breakfast from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. during the week and all day Saturday.
Harrison said he’s excited to offer new options like house-made French toast, omelets, breakfast sandwiches and more.
Stacks Food and Catering is in the American Hotel at 125 S. Augusta St. in Staunton. To learn more go to its Facebook page.

Boutique
Alison Heinrich is expanding her Esthetics Practice and Apothecary to a downtown health boutique location.
Her business, Ali & Co Esthetics Practices and Apothecary at 934 N. Augusta St. in Staunton, opened in the fall. But it isn’t a spa; it’s a lifestyle change. People have to be willing to put in the time and effort for better skin. The whole idea of her business is to figure out why your skin is acting a certain way — getting to the root of the problem.
“We’re like your friend next door who you want advice from,” Heinrich said.
Now, Heinrich is trying to reach more people by opening a retail shop in downtown Staunton at the former location of Fluffy Fannies. The store will have a soft opening for its original clients this week and a grand opening March 31.
The shop will feature ACTIV skin care, a line made by Heinrich; shaving kits; clothing; jewelry; makeup; applicators and more. The spot will serve more as an introduction to her esthetics practice and other services the business offers.
“It’s a partnership and a relationship,” Heinrich said. “Our clients are all our family at the end of it.”
The whole store will have a health and wellness theme. The shop on Saturdays will feature a specialist where customers can ask questions and get professional advice.
Heinrich is a licensed esthetician and her practice includes a team of five, all licensed estheticians.
Originally from Augusta County, Heinrich trained and worked in New York City and then returned to the Valley. Upon her return, she opened Blue Ridge School of Esthetics in Waynesboro, where she continues to train area estheticians and her staff.
For more information visit Ali&Co Esthetic Practice + Apothecary on Facebook. The original location is at 934 N. Augusta St., and the new boutique will be at 110 E. Beverley St., both in Staunton.

Kline’s
Marking its 75th anniversary, Kline’s Ice Cream is offering a 75 cent cone day March 20, at Kline’s locations in Harrisonburg, Staunton and Waynesboro.
Kline’s was founded in 1943. Starting out as a frozen custard shop, it was originally located on the first floor of John Kline’s house in downtown Harrisonburg where customers served through a walk-up window, a release said.
“This is an opportunity for us to connect with our customers and hear about their favorite memories of Kline’s from over the years,” said Kim Arehart, owner of the Kline’s locations in Staunton and Waynesboro, in a release.
Arehart started working at the original Kline’s location in Harrisonburg as a teenager before opening the store in Staunton in 1997 and the Waynesboro store in 2008, the release said.
Kline’s has been engaging customers via Facebook to share their memories, and has heard from many throughout the local area and across the country.
“The overwhelming response from our customers has been very rewarding and heartwarming,” Arehart said in a release.
