Spotted: another hilarious Gossip Girl wardrobe malfunction, this time involving Dan, Blair, and an unnamed party guest who appears to have forgotten a very important part of her ensemble.
A TikTok user @triciaerb3 was rewatching the CW series when they noticed a small but pivotal wardrobe fail during one scene from Season 5. In the clip, Dan and Blair are at a fancy party — Blair in a cute sparkly party dress and Dan in a coordinating jacket and shirt — having an impassioned discussion about Blair’s potential child with Chuck Bass. When the camera pans up to survey the crowd, the fail is impossible to miss: one of those party guests is only wearing one shoe! Weel, to be exact, a missing heel, which makes the fail all the more hilarious.
What on earth could have happened to that shoe? Maybe the woman in question was just partying too hard and lost a piece of footwear? Or, perhaps the scene was hastily assembled after some downtime on set, the extra simply didn’t have time to grab her other shoe and hoped it wouldn’t be a big deal? I guess we’d never know.
Gossip Girl has been off the air since 2012, and we’ve never heard anything about this malfunction before, so perhaps it’s gone unnoticed for nearly a decade. Then again, this is the world of Gossip Girl, and anything is possible — even attending a party sans one shoe and pulling it off. Maybe it was a new fashion trend that never caught on!
This isn’t the first time a TikTok user has noticed a wardrobe fail. In early May, one eagle-eyed fan spotted Serena rocking both a bodycon dress and a pair of cozy grey sweatpants in one scene from Season 6. We’re pretty sure this happened because the scene was filmed between breaks, and Blake Lively was probably trying to get as comfy as possible while not filming. The sweats must have just snuck into the scene, thinking nobody would notice their presence — much like the missing shoe.
Gossip Girl has been enjoying a resurgence since stay at home orders began, with many rewatching the show or experiencing its ups, downs, and scandals for the first time. While the new reboot has been delayed until next year, we’ve always got the OG series to come back to… just keep your eyes peeled for more hilarious wardrobe malfunctions!
