Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade slammed on Twitter for ‘tone deaf’ white privilege comments – Daily Mail

Her parents have pleaded guilty in the college admissions scandal to charges related to trying to get their two daughters fraudulently admitted to the prestigious University of Southern California.

But that didn’t stop Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade from posting to Instagram about white privilege and racism in the wake of the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

And now the 20-year-old ‘influencer’ is being slammed on Twitter for her ‘tone deaf’ remarks.

‘Olivia Jade on IG going on about white privilege… you mean the thing that’s keeping your parents out of jail and that fake got you into USC? I just can’t,’ one user tweeted.

Another wrote: ‘Olivia Jade talking about white privilege but ignoring the fact her parents bribed and paid her way into college. bye.’

‘Her white privilege got her out of trouble,’ someone posted in the comments section of Olivia’s Instagram post. 

‘You really have no self awareness,’ another user tweeted. ‘You are embarrassingly tone deaf and need to legitimately pursue an education.’

Full House star Loughlin and her husband, designer Mossimo Giannulli were accused by federal prosecutors of paying $500,000 to get Olivia and her sister Bella into USC as crew recruits, even though neither were athletes.

Loughlin, 55, and Mossimo, 56, agreed a plea deal in the case last month, pleading guilty to wire and mail fraud charges.

The actress is expected to serve two months in prison and complete 100 hours of community service, while Giannulli will serve five months behind bars and complete 250 hours of community service. 

The couple, who will also pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines, will be formally sentenced in August.

It was these circumstances that prompted the backlash when Olivia posted that she ‘was not always aware’ of issues of race and inequality ‘as a person who was born into privilege based on my skin color and financial situation.’

‘It makes me want to learn more and do more and be better for all my beautiful black friends and any other person who faces discrimination,’ she said.   

Olivia then urged her followers: ‘Don’t sit there and allow this to continue happening…. If you see something that doesn’t look right… do something!!!!!’ 

She said: ‘I’m not racist and I never have been but I need to speak up about this because just not being racist isn’t enough. It out rages me. It makes me feel sick. It brings me to tears. THERE SHOULD NOT BE SUCH A GAP BETWEEN PEOPLE LIKE THIS.’
