Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Cruise the Zoo: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday until May 31. Cruise the Zoo presented by Dollar Bank will offer guests a chance to visit with the animals of the zoo, including giraffes, elephants and bears, from the safety of their vehicle. A free audio guide will be available at http://FutureForWildlife.org/Cruise for families to listen to along the adventure featuring expert information on animals, habitats and conservation. A Virtual Photo Booth sponsored by Dollar Bank will also offer families a chance to capture a lasting memory and show their support of the zoo during this time. The Wilderness Center and “A Night in for Nature: Bubbles & Botany”: 5-6 p.m. Saturday. A virtual tasting and fundraiser that will take place in the comfort (and safety) of your own home. Enjoy some Brut Rose, a sparkling pinot noir-based wine from M Cellars and delicious treats from Ohio City Provisions while relaxing at home for a Zoom presentation “Plants & the Making of America” done by senior naturalist Carrie Elvey. Your $75 “admission fee” will support The Wilderness Center and local food and wine producers and will include a treat bag to be picked up at Wholesome Valley Farms in Wilmot, Local Roots in Wooster or Ohio City Provisions in Cleveland. Or, for $90, get delivery of your treat bag within the Canton/Massillon area. Pickups and deliveries will take place on May 29 and May 30. Homes and Hops Virtual 5K Growler Race: Through June 28. Complete your 5K in your neighborhood, the park, or even on a treadmill. Just be sure to record your time with Second Sole. Piano-a-thon: The marathon piano concert performed by area piano students will celebrate its 20th year with a virtual concert June 1-5. Performances will be virtual and broadcast, with parents’ permission, through the Piano-a-thon YouTube channel between June 1-5. Students register on the Piano-a-thon website and send emails to family and friends for donations. Money raised during the event will benefit the John C. and Elaine Thompson Piano-a-thon Endowment for Music Therapy. The endowment supports the Akron Children’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit, specifically the music therapy department. 2nd Annual Urban Vision International Food Festival: Will take place on June 6 as a curbside event. Participants will have an opportunity to taste their way around the world. The community is invited to pre-order a variety of foods and schedule pickup from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Urban Vision, 749 Blaine Ave., Akron. The deliciousness will include Mexican Steak Street Tacos, Nepali Samosas, Classic American BBQ Ribs, Karen Fresh Spring Rolls, Southern Style Mac & Cheese, Indian Chicken Biryani, Chicken Tinga, Karen Noodles and more. Medina Creative Housing 14th Annual Raising the Roof Dinner & Entertainment Charity Benefit: 6 p.m. June 6 at Weymouth Country Club. Enjoy the Medina Creative Housing residents’ “Creative Comedy Crew” skit, indulge in signature dishes from the 1920s, and dance the night away Gatsby style. GiGi’s Playhouse Canton Step to Accept Challenge: Will take place at noon June 6. The event is part of a nationwide effort from 60 different GiGi’s Playhouse locations across the United States and Mexico. People can create or join a team. During the event, the goal is for all teams nationwide to take more than seven million steps, which is enough steps to span the United States. Teams and individual participants are welcome. Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio’s annual Race for Kids: Will take place online this year. Participants will still be doing a 5K run or a 1-mile walk but at a course and time of their own choosing. Those registering at http://www.bgcneo.org will be mailed an official race T-shirt ahead of the event. They will be encouraged to wear the T-shirt in social media posts or during the run or walk, which can be completed anytime between June 13 and June 27. Competitors can post their times if they wish and post on a race Facebook page. Early bird registration for individuals is $20 and $50 for families, Regular registration, which begins June 1, is $25 for individuals and $60 for families.

Limitless Ambition 5th Annual Ladies of Legacy Brunch: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 13 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1307 E. Market St., Akron. Includes dinner, silent auction, and distinguished speakers from the Northeast Ohio community. This years honorees are: Susan Baker Ross, Summit County Judge; Heather Clayton Terry, Akron advocate, career coach, philanthropist; and Rohnesha M. Horne, philanthropist and marketing consultant. 4 Miles 4 Water Fundraiser: Starting June 20, runners and supporters will have the choice to participate by running or walking 1 mile, 4 miles, or entering a new 10 day challenge, all with more prizes than the event has ever offered before for Drink Local Drink Tap’s 10th anniversary. To maintain social distancing, runners can run their 4 miles anywhere they want, though four course maps will be available for competitive runners to compare their times and earn bragging rights. Participants will submit their results from their mobile device through the race registration website, with leaders earning prizes and getting highlighted on social media. The new 10-day challenge invites participants to walk or run 4 miles every day for 10 days, and will be eligible for bonus prizes. VFW District 8 10th Annual Golf Scramble: June 26 at Knoll Run Golf Club, 1421 Struthers Coitsville Road, Lowellville. For the teams, the outing will consist of 18 holes of golf with a cart, coffee and donuts, hot dogs at the turn, and a grilled-to-order steak dinner with socially distanced seating at Knoll Run Golf Course Pavilion. The entry fee for a team of four is $80 per person or $320 for the team. Hole sponsors are $100. ACCESS Inc. Virtual Annual Breakfast: 8:30 a.m. Aug. 11. The free, live-streamed event is the largest fundraiser of the year for ACCESS and will feature organizational updates and future plans, the presentation of the Lynn M. Budnick Empowered Woman Award, and a heartwarming story of a former resident. During the breakfast, guests will have the opportunity to learn about the role ACCESS plays in assisting homeless women and the services offered at the shelter, including case management, on-site health care, and job readiness training. Hattie Larlham 2020 Sugar Bush Golf Classic: Aug. 17 at Sugar Bush Golf Club. A shotgun-style tournament featuring morning and afternoon tee times for four-person teams.
