Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli copped pleas in the college admissions scandal Friday after realizing the case against them was too strong — and because they feared their daughters would have to testify, according to a new report.

“It was going to get ugly,” a source close to “Full House” alum Loughlin told Us Weekly.

“Lori and Mossimo felt going to trial would just be reckless,” the source told the gossip site — especially since their daughters, Bella, 21, and Olivia Jade, 20, might have had to testify about their roles in the admissions scam.

The daughters are already “devastated” that their parents now face months in jail — two for her, five for him — when they are sentenced Aug. 21, after pleading guilty in the case.

The actress and her fashion designer husband had been slated to stand trial in October; if found guilty, they each faced up to 45 years in the slammer for money laundering and bribery, top charges that will now be dropped under their pleas.

The couple also “were tired of being in limbo” and “couldn’t move on with their lives” with the prosecution still pending, Us Weekly reported.

Ultimately, the couple realized that they couldn’t beat the rap anyway — the case against them was too strong, the source said.
