While Gilmore Girls focused on a mother and a daughter who lived in a quaint community and were best friends and Gossip Girl focused on a group of friends in New York, these two dramatic television shows shared some similarities. 10 Blair & Rory
Blair Waldorf and Rory Gilmore were both brunettes who wanted to do well in everything they tried and who saw success with that goal. They both attended private schools and had their sights set on certain Ivy League universities.
While Blair was more extroverted and had more of a devious side than Rory, these two were still quite similar.
9 Serena & Lorelai
Serena van der Woodsen was a blonde “it” girl, and Lorelai Gilmore was a brunette mother and entrepreneur. However, they both had some baggage (partly due to their strict and serious mothers, who will be discussed below), and they both had commitment issues.
Serena and Lor went through so many relationships before they each finally ended up with their Prince Charming, who were Dan and Luke, respectively!
8 Dan & Jess
Dan Humphrey was a sensitive brunette male character who enjoyed reading and writing. On a similar note, Jess Mariano was a brunette male character who, at first, was just the bad boy in town.
As time went on, though, he revealed his true self to those he cared about and he turned his passion for books into a career.
7 Chuck & Logan
Chuck Bass came from a well-off, powerful and well-known family. Early on in his story, he could be found partying and putting off any responsibilities. He grew up, though, took over the family business and fell in love.

Logan Huntzberger also came from a well-off, powerful and well-known family, and his early story also showed him partying and putting off responsibilities. These men both also had bad accidents that made them have to use a cane for a bit.
6 Nate & Dean
On the Upper East Side, Nate Archibald was the all-American boy. He was athletic, he was friendly, and he was super cute. In Stars Hollow, Dean Forester had a similar vibe. He was the star of his high school’s sports teams, he was a genuinely nice guy, and he was super cute, too.
However, Nate also got around, while Dean seemed to only have eyes for Rory. He did end up marrying Lindsay, though, and they seemed good, last fans heard.
5 Vanessa & Sookie
Vanessa Abrams was a colorful and creative character and that sounds sort of like Sookie St. James, who was quite quirky. While Vanessa created films, Sookie’s art form was cooking.
Furthermore, both of these characters were good friends. Vanessa cared for Dan in a genuine way and Sookie was Lorelai’s ride or die.
4 Rufus & Luke
On Gossip Girl, Dan and Jenny Humphrey’s father was Rufus. He did not live on the Upper East Side, and he enjoyed the simple things in life, such as waffles, board games and playing his guitar.
On Gilmore Girls, Luke Danes was Lorelai’s eventual husband. He owned a diner in town and he was a simple man, too. He knew how to cook and knew what he wanted to serve his patrons. His one hobby was fishing and he could always be found in plaid shirts and a backward baseball cap.
3 Lily & Emily
Two mothers on these television series that were similar were Lily van der Woodsen and Emily Gilmore. There were affluent characters who enjoyed the finer things in life, threw lavish parties, wore sophisticated ensembles and traveled. They could also be a bit harsh, including when it came to their own daughters.

They did love their families and just wanted what was best for them. There were just some bad decisions made at times, such as when an innocent man was sent to prison and a happy couple was broken up.
2 Bart & Mitchum
Similarly, the two series saw characters named Bart Bass and Mitchum Huntzberger and they were very much alike.
Bart was a powerful real estate professional who could be flat-out mean and who was hardest on his son. Mitchum was a powerful journalism professional who also was not the nicest and who also was super tough on his son.
1 Scott Rosson & April Nardini
Lastly, there was Scott Rosson on Gossip Girl and April Nardini on Gilmore Girls. Scott was the son who Lily hid from Rufus and April was the daughter who Anna hid from Luke.
To many fans, their stories seemed out of place and pointless, as Scott was forgettable (especially amidst all that drama) and April was found to be annoying.
