Apr. 24, 11:44 p.m.:
For the second time on Friday night, the Jets have traded back.
Shortly before they were supposed to be on the clock at pick 101 (which they acquired in a trade with Seattle earlier in the night), the Jets traded the pick to the divisional rival New England Patriots.
In exchange, the Jets acquired two picks in Saturday’s fourth round (125 and 129), and also picked up a sixth-round pick in next year’s draft, per SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano.
Apr. 24, 8:18 p.m.:
Just as the Jets got on the clock in the early stages of the second round, Joe Douglas decided to trade back in the round instead.
According to SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano, the Jets traded pick 48 to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for picks 59 and 101. So the Jets must have felt comfortable moving back 11 spots.
The Jets now have three third-round picks: 68, 79, and 101.
Apr. 24, 1:36 p.m.:
The Jets are definitely interested in moving up in the second round of the draft, a source told SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano, who adds that a potential trade up could be with eyes on snatching a receiver.
According to Vacchiano, Jets GM Joe Douglas doesn’t want to have to wait all the way to pick 48 to make Gang Green’s first selection of the second round.
Apr. 23, 4:09 p.m.:
The Jets are among the teams to “make noise” regarding potentially trading up, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, who lists the Atlanta Falcons, New Orleans Saints, and Green Bay Packers as other teams interested in moving up.
According to Rapoport, the Jets’ interest in trading up is likely due to their desire to snag one of the “big four” offensive linemen.
If the Jets remain at No. 11, there is a possibility that Tristan Wirfs, Jedrick Wills, Mekhi Becton, and Andrew Thomas are all gone by then — especially if the Dolphins take a lineman instead of a quarterback with their first pick.
Apr. 23, 2:11 p.m.:
There is an “unconfirmed rumor” that the Jets could potentially trade picks with the Philadelphia Eagles (who currently have the No. 21 pick) while also acquiring CB Rasul Douglas, reports Rich Cimini of ESPN.
Douglas, 24, played all 16 games last year for Philadelphia, starting six.
Entering the final season of a four-year deal, Douglas has a cap hit of just over $2.3 million in 2020.
Apr. 22, 3:14 p.m.:
The Miami Dolphins, currently at No. 5, have spoken with teams ahead of them and are “gauging the price” it would take to acquire the No. 3 pick from the Detroit Lions, where they would potentially take one of the “big four” offensive tackles, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano has heard from sources who believe the Dolphins want a tackle, noting that Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa could surprisingly slide in the draft if Miami is not locked in on taking a quarterback.
For the Jets, the Dolphins trading up to No. 3 but taking an offensive lineman instead of a quarterback (or even staying at No. 5 and taking a lineman) could mean missing out on all of the “big four.”
Apr. 22, 2:35 p.m.:
There has been some recent buzz regarding teams potentially being concerned about Jerry Jeudy‘s knee.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reported that two teams “expressed concern” about Jeudy’s knee at the Scouting Combine. But he also said he hasn’t heard from a single team that believes it will hurt Jeudy’s career.
