Meghan McCain From ‘The View’ and ‘RHONY’ Alum Bethenny Frankel Can’t With ‘Superficial Celebrity News’ – Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Meghan McCain, the conservative co-host of The View, is a Real Housewives superfan. The political analyst has no shame in admitting she loves the Bravo franchise and is especially keen on The Real Housewives of New York City. Over the weekend, she bonded with RHONY alum Bethenny Frankel over her take on “superficial celebrity news.”

The world is going through some trying times amidst the health crisis. Lives are at stake and everyone is worried about their own well-being as well as others. Frankel has been raising awareness by making donations through her foundation and criticized the “superficial celebrity news” during the pandemic.

“How low is your tolerance for superficial celebrity news right now?” the Skinnygirl founder posed on Twitter.

One of her fans, McCain, quoted her tweet and added: “Zero fu**s. Especially when they try and entertain me singing John Lennon from McMansions in Malibu.”

Meghan McCain faces backlash

Both Frankel and McCain have a point, there are many more important things going on in the world than to focus on superficial stuff. However, with so much bad news, the “superficial celebrity news” is a form of escapism for many. McCain’s tweet didn’t go over too well and a backlash ensued.

“At least they are spreading joy. This tweet does not do that,” a fan replied.

“Meghan here pretending to be a common folk,” a follower added.

“Said the incredibly self-unaware woman-child who brags about never missing an episode of Real Housewives. Unbelievable,” a Twitter user commented.

“Meghan hates anything that might bring people some joy,” another fan said.

“Meghan, you are rich,” another followed noted. “Your family is rich and that’s OK. So actors trying to put a smile on people’s faces isn’t OK but the tiger guy is? WTF is that about?”

“God forbid someone try to entertain people and give them something to distract them while they’re sitting at home doing nothing,” another Twitter user mentioned. “Why so cynical Meghan? I’m guessing you’re not tweeting from a 500 sq. ft. apartment?”

Meghan McCain is pregnant

Although McCain seems to not be joyful over the entertainment some celebrities are trying to give out, she has a lot to be excited about. The Republican pundit recently confirmed that she was pregnant and expecting her first baby.

“My husband Ben and I have been blessed to find out I’m pregnant,” McCain posted on social media. “Although this isn’t how I expected to announce my pregnancy, both we and our families are excited to share the news with you all.”

Due to the health crisis, McCain’s doctor advised her to stay home and limit her interactions with people. For this reason, she would now have to co-host The View from her home.

“I consulted with my doctors and they advised me that for the safety of our baby and myself, I should be extra vigilant about limiting the amount of people we come in contact with,” she added. “Starting immediately, I’ll be joining the millions of Americans who are self-isolating as a precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As a result, I will be appearing on The View from home via satellite.”

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET and 10 a.m. CT/PT.
