Kenny Rogers: Piers Morgan shares unearthed moment with star after he dies aged 81 – Express

Tributes have poured in for the country music legend Kenny Rogers, who has died aged 81. The Gambler hitmaker “died peacefully at home,” his management has confirmed in a statement on his official Twitter page.

The singer died from “natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family,” they added.

Piers Morgan, 54, is among the many celebrities who have paid a tribute to the late star on Twitter today.

In view of his seven million followers, he shared a picture of the singer with the caption: “RIP Kenny Rogers, 81. What incredibly sad news.

“One of the all-time great country music stars & an utterly charming man.”

The Good Morning Britain host went to share a picture of a time he interviewed the musician.

Recalling the moment, he wrote: “I asked Kenny Rogers which of his songs was his favourite.

“He immediately said ‘Lady’ then corrected himself. ‘Actually, it would be We’ve Got Tonight.’

“The lyrics seem apposite today: ‘We’ve got tonight, who needs tomorrow? Let’s make it last, let’s find a way’.”

“They look forward to celebrating Kenny’s life publicly with his friends and fans at a later date,” they added.

Back in 2018, the singer cancelled the remaining dates on his Farewell tour due to unspecified “health challenges.”

He had announced his retirement from music a year previously.

Kenny said at the time: “I didn’t want to take forever to retire.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity to say farewell to the fans over the course of the past two years on ‘The Gambler’s Last Deal’ tour.
