Harry Redknapp addresses wife’s health amid coronavirus outbreak ‘It’s very serious’ – Express

Harry Redknapp, 73, said he fears for local businesses and his own health, but particularly his wife Sandra, who has suffered from sepsis. The football manager addressed his fears as he discussed the current coronavirus crisis.

He said: “We have to be careful, my wife especially, I worry. We’re being careful, you need to be.”

When asked if the pair are self-isolating, he added: “We just can’t take any chances now, I think the more you see happening in this country, the more careful you’ve got to be.

“I do worry that she’s okay.

“It’s a very serious matter and we’ve got to stick together and look out for people who need help, elderly people, you’ve got to help everybody.”

The former footballer also admitted he fears for local businesses as the Government advised people to stay away from crowded places.

He added on Talk Radio: “I worry about the businesses, I worry about the guys who own the cafe up the road, suddenly they’re closing down.”

The Harry Redknapp’s Sandbanks Summer star has spoken out about his wife’s health battle with sepsis in the past.

His spouse, who he married in 1967, fell ill with the bacterial infection in 2017 and suffered another relapse in May 2018.

“Thinking about it, I couldn’t handle that. I just couldn’t.”

As the coronavirus continues to spread globally, the Government has urged vulnerable and elderly people to be stringent in following social distancing measures.

This includes people who are aged 70 or older regardless of medical conditions, anyone with underlying health conditions and pregnant women.

To date, 144 people have died in the UK after being diagnosed with the disease.

Over 3,000 people have also tested positive for the virus.

Globally, over 250,000 people have been affected by the outbreak.

This week, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he is “confident” the country will take control of the virus in the next three months.

Speaking at a conference from Downing Street, he said: “I am absolutely confident we can turn the tide within the next 12 weeks” and “send the virus packing”.

“I’m very confident we will get this thing done. I’m very confident we will beat coronavirus.”
