Fiona Phillips, 59, reveals she has coronavirus after suffering a ‘sore throat, dry cough and headache’ – OK! magazine
TV presenter Fiona Phillips has revealed she has coronavirus after suffering a “sore throat, dry cough and headache”.
The former GMTV host took to Twitter to share the news as she described the illness as “not very pleasant” and outlined her terrible symptoms.
Despite feeling ill the 59 year old did urge her fans not to panic as the coronavirus claimed more victims and the Government closed pubs and bars across the country.
Fiona wrote: “I am in bed with #coronvirusuk It’s not a very pleasant bedfellow, but nothing more than sore throat, dry cough, headache & tiredness.
“As long as it stays that way….DON’T panic!”
The famous breakfast presenter, who is married to This Morning editor Martin Frizell, also said that she wasn’t in too much distress despite her coronavirus diagnosis.
In reply to one concerned follower who asked if she was suffering, Fiona said: “I’m not suffering. It’s fine. Thanks for asking.”
Meanwhile, her former co-host Eamonn Holmes, 60, shared a message of support, writing: “Get well soon Miss Fiona. Keep us posted x.”
Fiona ain’t the only TV presenter who is suffering from coronavirus as Matt Baker has also been self-isolating after experiencing symptoms.
The 42 year old is currently presenting The One Show — which he hosts with Alex Jones — via webcam from home after his son showed symptoms of the virus.
But during Thursday night’s episode, he admitted he was “anxious” about his health after he started to show symptoms himself.
When asked by Alex, also 42, how he was feeling, Matt told viewers: “It’s been… do you know what?
“To be honest with you, right, I’m not feeling as good as I normally do and I’ve wondered for a couple of days whether or not we’ve got it.
“But certainly I’m feeling pretty tired and I’ve got this dry cough and I don’t have a fever as such, but I have been going out today to try and get a bit of fresh air.
“So yeah, I am a bit anxious about whether or not I’ve got it, to be fair,” he continued.
While Alex co-hosted the show with Patrick Kielty, they were joined on the sofa by Joe Wicks, who gave viewers exercise tips to work out from home, and This Morning’s Dr Zoe Williams, who also fears she has been struck down by the bug, joining by video link.
It was recently revealed that Kym Marsh would stand in for Matt during Friday’s episode, as he takes the last day of the working week off.
However, Kym also pulled out of presenting the show after she felt similar symptoms and decided to self-isolate.
