Peter Andre admits to stockpiling amid coronavirus outbreak but slams those who bulk-buy toilet roll – OK! magazine
Singer Peter Andre has revealed he and his family have began stockpiling amid coronavirus fears, but hit out at those who bulk-buy toilet roll.
The 47 year old Mysterious Girl singer has opened up on fears that his wife Emily Andrea is most at risk of catching the coronavirus because she works in a hospital.
Writing in his new magazine column, Peter opened up on how he and his family have been preparing incase they have to go into quarantine.
Peter wrote: “At the time of writing my column, coronavirus prediction data showed the UK is just two weeks behind an outbreak as serious as the one in Italy, where more than 1,000 deaths have been reported.
“I get the impression a lot of people aren’t taking this virus seriously, but I have no doubt it’s going to spread rapidly and that we’ll feel full impact on our shores.
“From what I’m hearing, we really need to be prepared,” he said before expressing concern about his wife Emily as he added: “If anyone in our household is going to be exposed to the virus it’s probably Emily because she works in hospital, but until we’re told otherwise we’re just carrying on as normal.”
Peter then admitted he and Emily have been stocking up as he wrote: “We have started stocking up on dry and canned food, though.
“If we do have to self-quarantine, we have a large family to feed and it would be irresponsible for us not to be prepared.”
Hitting out at those who have been stocking up on loo roll he added: “I don’t understand why people are stocking up on toilet roll though.
“You won’t be using the toilet more, therefore why would you need so much loo roll. We’re all going bonkers.”
The singer, who joins a number of celebrities who have spoken about their decisions among coronavirus including Kerry Katona who has taken the decision to pull her children from school, recently responded to reports his fans were told not to touch him at a recent event over the coronavirus.
At the beginning of the month, it was claimed fans in Southampton were told not to have “any physical contact” with Peter or “take any selfies” with the star.
A photo of the sign displayed at Central Hall in Southampton read: “Due to recent cases of the coronavirus please DO NOT have any physical contact with Peter Andre.
“Please DO NOT take any selfies with Peter Andre. Apologies for any inconvenience. Thank you”. [sic]
Responding to the reports, Peter insisted he hugged everyone he met as he shared a screenshot of a news article on Instagram and wrote in the caption: “Ok this must be a wind up because I hugged Everyone I met.
“People were saying to me that they had been told not to touch me and that there were signs. I thought they were joking. Brilliant. I am now officially a diva without being a diva . On a serious note though don’t touch me,” followed by a laughing emoji.
