Jim Langley: Finding the Sweet Spot in Your Life – Noozhawk
Finding the sweet spot in your life can make a real difference in where you’re headed. So what actually is this sweet spot? Personally, I believe it’s that edge when you know you’ve reached the pinnacle in performance and you sense you can’t possibly do much better.
As an avid golfer, I know when that sweet spot is reached even though it happens less often than in my prime. It requires a perfect swing with my driver followed by the sensation that there’s no possible way I could hit that little golf ball any better.
I’ve felt it with a tennis racket. I’ve sensed it with a bowling ball hitting the 1-3 pocket in exactly the right spot at the precise angle as I’ve watched the pins literally blow up on the alley. I’ve experienced a baseball and a softball explode off a wooden or aluminum bat in a way that I still remember to this day.
I’ve felt it in business. In fact, I felt it recently as I was able to convey a concept to a prospective client that I know will lead to a very successful business transaction that will benefit his family as well as my pocketbook.
I imagine you may well have experienced sweet spots in your business and professional lives. We all have times when all the dominoes line up perfectly and you know that they will all fall as planned in a beautiful crescendo that’s pleasing to all our senses.
You hopefully have also found that sweet spot in a special relationship that makes your life feel more fulfilling and complete. Life should not be a drudgery. It’s meant to be lived fully with others near you to make it more meaningful.
Recently, I mentioned the title of my upcoming discussion with Joy, the owner of the local Spudnuts & Bagels doughnut shop I frequent almost daily.
Joy knows what it is to find her sweet spot in business. Her name fits her attitude and I’m certain that sweet spot has led to success in her business model. Her customers can tell she truly loves what she does and that’s at least one reason they patronize her shop rather than other establishments only a few blocks in either direction.
Now let’s talk about the most significant sweet spot I’ve ever experienced. My favorite sweet spot is my ongoing relationship with my Heavenly Father. He’s become the most radical sweet spot of them all, and I look forward to each new day and what lies ahead as He walks with me through the peaks and valleys of life.
Perhaps you can relate to what I experience daily. If not, I’d like to offer some unsolicited advice on how you, too, can find that sweet spot of sweet spots in your life.
You see Jesus came down to this earth for all mankind to take away the hold of sin in our lives. He can remove the drudgery of life and replaces it with eternal hope and joy.
Throughout His Word we are reminded that we are His joy and He wants us to find those sweet spots in our lives. Give Him your love and your obedience and He in turn will create a clean heart in you this day forward.
