Dancing on Ice judges Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean have spoken out about the feud between former skating partners Caprice and Hamish Gaman, which has dominated the headlines throughout this series.

DOI fans were left baffled when it was announced former model Caprice Bourret, 48, would no longer be dancing with professional skater Hamish Gaman, 36.

The show’s co-host Holly Willoughby made the announcement on air when she said: “Unfortunately, Caprice and Hamish have parted ways and will not be skating this week. As you saw in our opening number, Hamish remains one of the members of our professional team and we hope to have Caprice back on the ice next week.”

Weeks later, Caprice announced she was stepping back from the show in a statement from her rep which read: “It’s true that Caprice is no longer participating in Dancing On Ice. It’s been a hard few months and she’s had to keep silent for contractual reasons.”

They added: “Her mental wellbeing has been affected over the last two months and recent stories leaked to the press are not only salacious but

When asked about how they feel about the feud by Mirror Online, 62 year old Jayne said: “We didn’t really get involved in it. We were told what was happening. So we just had to go with it and accept it.”

And 61 year old Christopher added: “It was information passed on to us. It just sounded like they weren’t getting on. Caprice wanted to stay in the competition and that was the only way they could resolve it. So that’s what the producers decided to do.”

And, when asked if the fallout had created an atmosphere on the Dancing on Ice set, Christopher said: “Everyone was, to begin with, asking, ‘What’s happening?’ But now everybody’s really concentrating on their own performance and what they have to do. You’d be surprised – everyone needs to be somehow blinkered on what they need to do. They’re serious about trying to do their best so nobody really dwells on any distractions.”

And Jayne added: “Mostly partnerships do have to get on. When you bring it to the ice, there has to be equal respect and trust. And so you have to make that work. And usually, in partnerships where that doesn’t happen, they don’t last that long in the competitive world.”

It comes after Caprice slammed the show weeks after her departure.

Caprice has claimed the show’s bosses “took sides” and claimed she was “bullied” on the show.

ITV have always vehemently denied that “bullying” took place on the show, saying they found “no evidence” of it during Caprice’s time on the programme.

Caprice told The Sun: “There is no duty of care. In America, they have to have it or they get sued.

“It’s just thinking about other people, it’s just common decency, I think, when it comes to these kind of destructive shows. We have to have a soul at some point for God’s sakes.

“Thank God people are talking about it at the moment more, but it’s sad what had to happen for people to do that.”

ITV said in a statement: “We take our duty of care very seriously. We have always been fully committed to ensuring that everyone involved on Dancing On Ice is fully supported.”
