Bette Midler Calls Out the True ‘Parasite’ After Donald Trump’s Oscars Rant – Billboard
Bette Midler had some choice words for President Donald Trump, who expressed his grievances on Thursday (Feb. 20) over Parasite winning best picture at the 2020 Academy Awards.
“By the way, how bad were the Academy Awards this year, did you see? And the winner is, a movie from South Korea,” Trump mocked at a rally in Colorado. “What the hell was all that about? We got enough problems with South Korea, on trade, and on top of it they give it the best movie of the year. Was it good?”
Midler, an fervent opposer of the president, took to Twitter on Friday (Feb. 21) to share her sassy comeback, which included a cheeky play on words. “At his rally, #Trump complained about #Parasite winning the Oscar. I’m more upset that a parasite won the White House,” she wrote.

Midler’s response follows Neon, the distributor of Parasite, who tweeted their own scathing reaction to Trump’s rant, by simply writing, “Understandable, he can’t read,” referring to the Korean movie’s English subtitles.
