Another royal split: Princess Margaret’s son and wife to divorce – Page Six

It’s turning out to be another annus horribilis for the Queen.

The Monarch’s nephew, the Earl of Snowdon has announced he and his wife Serena are splitting after more than 25 years of marriage. The news comes less than a week after the Queen’s grandson Peter Phillips split from his Canadian wife Autumn.

The Earl — known professionally as David Linley — is the son of the late Princess Margaret, the Queen’s younger sister, and photographer Lord Snowdon.

A spokesman for the royal couple told the press: “The Earl and Countess of Snowdon have amicably agreed that their marriage has come to an end and that they shall be divorced.

“They ask that the press respect their privacy and that of their family.”

The Earl, who runs a prestigious furniture company, and his wife Serena have two children, Charles Armstrong-Jones and Margarita Armstrong-Jones.

His parents had a tempestuous marriage marred by alcohol, bitter fighting and extramarital affairs. They wed in 1960 and finally divorced in 1978.
