Four recent or future business closures in Menasha, Appleton and Grand Chute.
Aunt Esther’s Attic
Aunt Esther’s Attic, a colorful, funky women’s clothing boutique in downtown Menasha, will close March 28. Owner Colleen Flanagan, 69, recently remarried and now plans to retire with her new husband. She’s had the shop for 10 years, first in Mercer, Wis. and now at 198 Main St. in Menasha. “I fulfilled my bucket list and had a ball,” she said. She’ll continue to sell scarves and jewelry on her Facebook page.
Appleton Crankshaft
Appleton Crankshaft will close February 29 after 61 years of engine machine work and driveshaft repair. Owner David Hartman is retiring. “We will be working through March to finish up all machine work that is in the shop,” he said. The business is for sale, and while Hartman says he’s had interested parties, he’s had no commitments. The shop is at 2000 W. Spencer St.
Barstools Direct
Barstools Direct closed its store at 1400 W. College Ave. in Appleton, but continues to operate its Green Bay store at 1197 W. Mason St.
Kay Jewelers
Kay Jewelers closed at the end of January in the Fox River Mall. The national jewelry store chain has a branch on Appleton’s east side that remains open. It’s at 3845 E. Calumet St., in the same building as Salon Aura.
