Neon greens, bright marigold yellows and ’80s glitz may have been the big trends on fashion runways for 2020.
But the women and men who looked fabulous on the red carpet at the 92nd Academy Awards Sunday night went for classic style and timeless elegance, often in vintage ensembles of basic black or white — with some going for the bright flashes of red.
In other ways, Spike Lee and Natalie Portman smartly used fashion to make positive statements. Lee wore a purple-and-gold tuxedo bearing the number “24” to honor the late, great NBA star Kobe Bryant, while Portman donned a cape that was embroidered with the names of female film directors who were not nominated for Oscars this year.
