Vladimir Restoin Roitfeld,
son of iconic fashion editor
Carine
Roitfeld, took over the family business in 2016 as president and managing director for CR Fashion Book Ltd. His mother founded CR Fashion Book magazine in 2012 after leaving French Vogue, but Restoin Roitfeld has helped expand the CR brand, named after his mother, to include a perfume line, a men’s magazine, international editions of CR Fashion Book, CR Calendar, fashion shows, and CR Studio, a full-service creative agency that offers campaign and content production.

Restoin Roitfeld, 35, launched CR Studio in 2017 and grabbed viral headlines not long after its start. Restoin Roitfeld and CR Studio masterminded the 2018 Yeezy Season 6 lookbook in which multiple celebrities and social media influencers were transformed into
Kim Kardashian West’s
“clones,” wearing clothes from the collection. Restoin Roitfeld also launched CR Calendar in 2018. This year’s CR Calendar is a wearable, zodiac-themed collaboration with Redemption, comprising 12 t-shirts featuring 12 different supermodels, including Cindy Crawford and Doutzen Kroes, with proceeds going to 12 different charities.

Restoin Roitfeld splits his time between Paris and New York, where CR Studio is based. He shared with Penta his hobbies, favorite destinations, and more.

My favorite neighborhood in the world is… Central Park, New York. I am an addicted runner.

The one thing in my closet I can’t live without is… sweatpants. I wasn’t allowed to wear them as a kid and they have become a guilty pleasure over the years.

If I were to buy a piece of art, it would be by…
Jean-Michel Basquiat.
I love everything about his work.

The best book I’ve read in the last year is… The Slight Edge. It’s a very good motivational book. And The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck— it was the right time, right moment, and right place.

I relax by… training for a competition, preferably triathlons and marathons. Also, I love sleeping on the plane.

A passion of mine that few people know about is… I am a strong supporter and have been going to amfAR [the Foundation for AIDs Research] events for the past 16 years in Cannes—I have never missed one. Since then, I have collaborated with them on multiple art exhibitions, reaching very high bids and donations. I have been working very closely with Carine [Roitfeld] and the team on her annual curated fashion show, which has raised over $10 million over the last 10 years.

The one trip I’ve taken that I would love to do again… the trips I took with my sister and my parents more than 20 years ago. They were safaris in South Africa and Tanzania. The last time was in 1998, and I have not been back since. These were the most extraordinary images I have kept in my mind—a magical place.

The next destination on my travel itinerary is… the mountains in Switzerland to celebrate the wedding of my best friend. I am excited, as I am his best man.

The restaurant/bar in my hometown that I love to take a visitor is… if a friend has never been to New York, I always love to take them to Indochine. I never let them leave without having a burger and a beer at JG Melon with me.

A person who inspired me to do what I do is… my mother. She inspires and motivates me every day with her incredible work ethic.

If I could have a drink with anybody, anywhere, it would be… with all the players from my soccer team in France, called
Paris Saint
German, which I have been supporting for 30 years.

My drink of choice is… a glass of French red wine—Bordeaux or Burgundy.

The most important part of a great event is… the music.
