Twitter goes nuts with 2020 Grammy Award memes – SFGate

The 2020 Grammy Awards were full of red carpet looks, BTS surprise appearances and underwhelming Prince tributes. And also, plenty of meme material.

Given Billie Eilish’s monster night (and monstrous green fingernails), it’s understandable she’d be an internet favorite. Like just about everything about her, Lizzo’s stunning flute performance set the internet aflame, and also drew questions of whether anyone’s ever seen her in the same room with Tamika from “School of Rock.”

Lana Del Rey’s snub understandably upset her stans. The perplexing choice to feature aging rockers Aerosmith and their gross mustache drew some ire. Chrissy Teigen’s billowing orange dress drew comparisons to everything from Christo & Jeanne-Claude’s 2005 New York art installation The Gates to Dragon Ball Z characters.

Naturally, meme machine Lil Nas X pleased the Twitter masses, especially the BTS Army, which may be the most rabid fanbase in the world. And the tragic death of NBA superstar Kobe Bryant drew more somber reactions.

And Tyler, The Creator’s earth-shattering performance also shook Twitter, with his heavy breathing on the microphone inspiring a delicious meme about frozen pizzas.
