YG celebrated the life of late basketball legend Kobe Bryant with his look for the 2020 Grammys.
The rapper, 29, hit the stage at Sunday night’s award show to perform “Higher” in honor of Nipsey Hussle, along with John Legend, DJ Khaled and more. While performing, the rapper donned a red suit and honored not only Hussle, but also Bryant, who was killed in a helicopter crash just hours before the event.
At the Universal Music Group afterparty, YG continued the tribute, wearing a Bryant Lakers jersey under a black suit. Others, including singers DaniLeigh and Jac Ross, also sported the jersey and a hat to pay tribute at the afterparties, while Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, DJ Khaled and more paid their respects on the red carpet before the ceremony.
There were plenty of tributes to the late basketball star during the show as well; Alicia Keys and Boyz II Men sang an emotional song dedicated to Bryant, Keys referenced him many times while hosting the telecast and Ryan Seacrest opened the red carpet with some touching words about the athlete.
Bryant’s retired jerseys were illuminated above the crowd throughout the entire show, and fans gathered outside the Staples Center to lay flowers and photos.
YG walked the red carpet in a zebra-printed cardigan sweater and diamond “gangster” necklace, with his 3-year-old daughter Harmony as his date. The appearance comes just two days after YG was released from jail for home robbery. At the afterparty, YG was spotted holding hands with ex-girlfriend Kehlani, suggesting the couple may have rekindled their romance after he was caught cheating on her.
