Boston's dishes out options to 'lifestyle' diners

Boston’s Pizza Restaurant & Sports Bar does not intend to let the age of so-called “lifestyle-eating” emerge without giving the pizza a prominent presence among the protein-packed, gluten-free, plant-based offerings and more. In fact, the brand said just because pizzas traditionally come loaded with dairy-laden cheeses, wheat crusts and meat toppings that are forbidden by some diets doesn’t mean adherents of those diets should have to bypass the pie entirely, according to a news release.

That’s why Boston’s is beginning the year with an array of offerings designed to cater to keto, vegan and paleo diets with the following LTOs running through March 29:

  • Keto-friendly offerings, including Fathead Pizza and Chili Lime Shrimp Bowl. The pie has a crust made from almond flour, flax seed, eggs and cheese, topped with mozzarella pepperoni, salami, jalapenos and marinated mushrooms. The bowl is filled with grilled shrimp, cauliflower rice, roasted vegetables, cabbage mix, cilantro and chili lime aioli
  • Plant-based diet-pleasing Superfood Pizza with a CauliPower crust, along with pesto sauce, quinoa, roasted garlic, Parmesan, tomatoes, fresh spinach and avocado (Yes, it’s that mega-green looking pie in our photo).
  • Paleo-friendly Citrus Salmon with Cajun grilled salmon, topped with a citrus sauce served cauliflower rice and sautéed spinach.
  • Dairy- and meat-free Cheezburger Pizza with that CauliPower crust, a “secret” sauce, Beyond Meat crumbles, Daiya “mozzarella,” pickles, red onions, lettuce and tomato.
  • Just plain-old “lite” Spinach & Artichoke Dip that cuts some of the heavier elements in the brand’s regular Spinach & Artichoke Dip, complete with dippable fresh vegetables and CauliPower chips.

“In today’s confusing marketplace of health tips and diet options, we believe everyone has the right to choose what’s best for them and this launch was more about expanding upon our current offering and identifying what our Guests have told us they want to see more of,” Boston’s Senior Director for Marketing Katie Borger said in an interview with Pizza Marketplace.

“We specialize in pizza, so we didn’t want to veer too far away from what we know we do well while not trying to be something we aren’t. Our goal is to allow people who follow these diets to stay on track by trying our signature item, which is pizza. Dairy and gluten sensitivities/allergies have continued to grow each year, plant-based protein alternatives have expanded in popularity and the Keto diet has many followers who really miss eating pizza, so we created a menu that catered to these diners.”

And just so those who’d rather bypass the booze also have something to wash it all down, Boston’s has also introduced a series of alcohol-free drinks, like its New England Spritz with blood orange and lime juice, or the Jalisco Cooler that combines mango and grapefruit with lemon lime soda and finally a Golden Turmeric Mule featuring ginger beer with turmeric, mango and lime.
