COAST Click: Giving is the fashion at Harvesters lunch – OCRegister

“It’s hard to believe that in Orange County – one of the most affluent areas of the United States – one in six children is at risk of hunger,” said Jodi Salerno, co-chair of Harvesters OC. “Hunger is a constant struggle for so many, and Second Harvest works tirelessly to help feed more than 250,000 people each month – but they can’t end hunger alone.” Awareness is one part of the equation. But, everyone involved with Harvesters Orange County understands that the work doesn’t stop there. Action is required.

On Oct. 2, Harvesters of Orange County, in partnership with South Coast Plaza, and Second Harvest Food Bank OC raised more than $1 million to help feed the cause and fight hunger. More than 400 well-heeled attendees such as Jennifer Segerstrom, Bette Aitken and Lauren Wong gathered at Segerstrom Performing Arts Center for the exclusive fashion show and luncheon. Avril Graham of Harper’s Bazaar mingled with attendees before and after the show to discuss the fashions by Marni, Lafayette 148, Max Mara, The Webster, Salvatore Ferragamo, Christian Dior and more.

Last year, the organizations provided 26.5 million meals for OC residents at risk of hunger. This year they will definitely do more since it’s obvious that feeding the community is always en vogue.
