Morris Hospital entrance change
Beginning Monday, Jan. 13, everyone coming to Morris Hospital for outpatient services will use the main entrance off High Street, the same entrance that is used to visit hospitalized patients. Outpatient services includes all diagnostic imaging testing, lab, cardiology services and infusion therapy, as well as outpatient surgery. This is a permanent change; there will no longer be a separate outpatient entrance.
The change is one of the outcomes of the hospital’s three-year, $33.5 million modernization project that will result in a new emergency department and women’s imaging center in February. The hospital’s new infusion therapy center and outpatient lab are opening for patient services on Monday, Jan. 13, the same day all outpatient traffic will begin entering the building on the east side of the campus.
The hospital will continue to have a dedicated emergency entrance, which is currently located on the west side of the building off Lisbon Street. When the new emergency department opens in February, however, the emergency entrance will also move to the east side of the building, to the immediate north of the main entrance. The emergency entrance will be clearly identified with signage.
In preparation for the change in traffic patterns, Morris Hospital has extended its main entrance parking lot all the way to Liberty Street. Additional handicap parking spaces have also been added to the east side of the hospital campus. The circle drive at the main entrance will continue to be available for drop offs and pick-ups.
