Marriage Story became a bonafide meme thanks to Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver‘s impassioned performances. And between Martin Scorsese‘s embrace of digital de-aging technology, his controversial Marvel comments, and the generally rapturous response to the film itself, The Irishman managed to dominate the cultural conversation in one way or another for most of the year.
