When Christmas Eve and Christmas Day fall on a weekend, or during home Green Bay Packers games, there are lots of choices for dining out.
That’s not the case this year.
The holidays fall mid-week and games are away. Choices are slim.
I asked restaurant owners to email their plans so I could compile a list.
It turned out to be a jumble of taverns, pizza delivery, Asian restaurants, family restaurants and upscale dining.
CHRISTMAS EVE
•Bamboo, Appleton: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Will take reservations for five or more people.
•Bazil’s Pub & Provisions, Appleton: Bar is open 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., no food service
•Fox River Brewing Co., Grand Chute: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
•Fratellos, Appleton: 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
•Gingerootz Asian Grille, Appleton: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and reservations are highly recommended. “It’s one of our busiest days of the year,” said owner Dale Chu.
•Melting Pot, Appleton: Noon to 8 p.m.
•Muncheez Pizzeria, Appleton: 3 p.m. to 3 a.m.
•Perkins Restaurant & Bakery, Appleton and Grand Chute: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
•StoneYard, all locations: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
•10th Frame, Appleton: Food service 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Bowling and bar open 11 a.m. to midnight. (Note that for the first time in 17 years, 10th Frame will be closed on Christmas Day.)
•Wooden Nickel Sports Bar and Grill, Appleton: 11 a.m. to bar close
CHRISTMAS DAY
•Bamboo, Appleton: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Takes reservations for 5 or more people
•Bazil’s Pub & Provisions, Appleton: Bar and grill open at 5:30 p.m. Food service to 1 a.m.
•Lombardi’s Steakhouse, inside the Red Lion Hotel Paper Valley, Appleton: 4 to 8 p.m.
•Michiels Bar & Grill, Menasha: Christmas buffet 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
•Muncheez Pizzeria, Appleton: 3 p.m. to 3 a.m.
•The Orchard, inside the Red Lion Hotel Paper Valley, Appleton: brunch 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Reservations suggested.
•Perkins Restaurant & Bakery, Appleton and Grand Chute locations: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
•Wooden Nickel Sports Bar and Grill, Appleton: 4 p.m. to bar close
