James Haskell, 34, has claimed he struggled with several health issues before being eliminated from I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2019. The former England Rugby player, who is married to Chloe Madeley, had to deal with a drastic change in his calorie intake in the Australian jungle, where contestants have to live on rations of rice and beans until they win food in Bushtucker Trials.
After leaving the camp, James told The Sun he struggled to walk and suffered from spells of dizziness due to the lack of food.
The star also admitted he believed he was on the verge of requiring medical attention just before his exit on Tuesday.
The sportsman said: “I was so hungry. I was unable to get off my bed and move.
“I had physical ailments from where I went from 4,000 calories to 250 calories. That is starvation. That was the biggest shock.”

“The most important thing to me is the opinion and respect of my fellow camp mates, with whom I have lived for the last 17 days. I was truly touched and humbled by their reactions this morning in camp.”
He added: “Also cannot thank @andrewismaxwell, @adeleroberts and @cliffparisi enough for their amazingly kind and generous words to me today.”
James then signed off: “Here’s to another slice [pizza] and [beer], and on to the next adventure.”
James’ health admission comes after his wife Chloe defended him for getting “hangry” in the jungle and getting frustrated with some of his campmates including Kate Garraway.
In view of her 205,000 Instagram followers, the fitness enthusiast wrote: “The poor guy is in a right old grump.
“His BMR (basic metabolic rate) is around 2500 cals his TDEE (Total daily energy expenditure) is around 4000 cals so to go down to 800 maybe 1200 with stars, is clearly taking its toll on him.”
She continued: “I think people should remember this is a TV show orchestrated to get big reactions out of big characters, and maybe take it a tad less seriously.”
