Princess Anne Spotted With Trudeau, Macron and Boris Johnson As World Leaders Appear to Gossip About Trump – Newsweek
Queen Elizabeth II’s only daughter, Princess Anne, has set Twitter alight with memes after she was seen with an animated group of world leaders who appeared to be gossiping about President Donald Trump at Buckingham Palace Tuesday night.
In a clip that has gone viral on social media, Anne, 69, was spotted talking to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, with Trump seemingly the topic of conversation.
The world leaders attended a royal reception ahead of the NATO summit in London Wednesday.
In the clip, Trudeau, Macron and Johnson appear to joke about the length of Trump’s press conferences and the reactions of his administration.
Johnson asks Macron, “Is that why you were late?” to which Trudeau says, “He was late because he takes a 40-minute press conference off the top…” This is an apparent reference to a joint press conference Trump and Macron held on Tuesday that was described by the BBC as “occasionally tense.”
Later in the clip, a particularly spirited Trudeau says: “You just watched his team’s jaws drop to the floor,” before Anne appears to add in a comment of her own.
Another clip from the reception also went viral, which Twitter users interpreted as Anne missing a royal receiving line as Trump and First Lady Melania Trump offered formal greetings to Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles. However, Newsweek understands that Anne was not part of the formal receiving line and only the queen, Charles and the Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, were obligated to formally receive guests.
At one moment in the footage, the queen appears to remark to Anne—seen standing to the side—about her absence from the line and Anne appears to shrug off the comments. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson did not comment on what was said.

Twitter users saw the humor in the two clips and were full of praise for Anne’s perceived snub of Trump.

“Princess Anne is so shady. I’m HERE for it,” said a third tweet.
Even the official Twitter account for Netflix’s The Crown got in on the action with a GIF of a young Princess Anne from the series:

Princess Anne is the second child, and only daughter, of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. Her eldest brother is, of course, Prince Charles, the next in line for the throne. Anne also has two younger brothers, the recently embattled Prince Andrew and Prince Edward.
The princess royal has been married twice, first to Mark Phillips, whom she divorced in 1992, and with whom she has two children, Peter and Zara. She remarried in 1992, this time to Timothy Laurence.
Anne’s daughter Zara is something of a British celebrity in her own right and is married to former England rugby player Mike Tindall.
