Weekly Buzz: Things Have Gotten Frosty For The Flyers – Broad Street Buzz

This week’s serving of Broad Street Buzz content you might have missed.

We kicked off the week by looking at a few Philadelphia Flyers related gifts you could get for yourself or somebody else during the holiday season.

General Manager and Team President Chuck Fletcher then went and did the thing, calling up Morgan Frost from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms to try and give the team another spark.

The Flyers traveled to Florida to take on the Panthers as Frost geared up to make his NHL debut.

While the 20-year-old centerman scored a goal in his first game, Philadelphia played poorly as a whole and fell to the Panthers by a score of 5-2, losing their fourth straight game in the process.

Needless to say, the Flyers needed more from their top-end talents, as most of them had been struggling in recent weeks.

Netting three points in his last five games coming in, Ivan Provorov was highlighted as a player to watch for the Flyers as they faced off with the Carolina Hurricanes for the second time this season.

And they got the W! How about that? Philly defeated their fellow Metropolitan Division squad 5-3 and have these three players to thank for avoiding a five-game losing skid.

Some fans were a little concerned with how Provorov would look after a down 2018-19 campaign, but the Russian defenseman has bounced back in a big way early on in the new year.

Scott Laughton returned to the lineup following a four-week hiatus due to injury as the Orange and Black played host to the Calgary Flames at the Wells Fargo Center.

The Flyers pulled a Flyers, surrendering a game-tying goal late in the third and eventually losing to the Flames in a, you guessed it, shootout.
