Felicity Huffman Is Released Early – The New York Times

The actress Felicity Huffman was released early on Friday from the minimum-security prison camp outside San Francisco where she had been serving her 14-day sentence in the college admissions case, according to a Bureau of Prisons spokeswoman.

Ms. Huffman’s scheduled release date was Sunday. She was let out early because of a Bureau of Prisons policy that allows for a Friday release in some cases if the scheduled date falls on a weekend, the spokeswoman said.

Ms. Huffman, who admitted to paying $15,000 to cheat on her daughter’s SAT exam, ultimately served 11 days at the prison camp, which is part of the Federal Correctional Institution in Dublin, Calif. The day that she was arrested, in March, also counted as one day toward fulfilling her sentence.

Ms. Huffman is one of 35 parents who have been charged in a sweeping case involving accusations of cheating on college entrance exams and paying college coaches to designate students as recruits in sports that they did not play competitively, facilitating their admission.
