A quick spin around Appleton, Menasha and Grand Chute.

Coming

Dunkin’, previously known as Dunkin’ Donuts, is close to opening its new location at 1490 Oneida St., at Midway Road, in Menasha. It’s in a newly built, multi-tenant building across the street from CVS. Its neighbors include Shopko Optical and a coming Great Clips.

“We will hopefully be opening by mid-to-late October,” said Matt Besant, regional supervisor for Dunkin’s franchisee based in Wisconsin Dells. “We’ll ease into it with a soft opening so new employees don’t get overwhelmed.”

It will be the second Dunkin’ in the Fox Cities after Buchanan/Darboy.

“They knew this area needed another Dunkin’,” he said. “We thought this would be the best site for us and for the community.”

The new design is what’s called a “next generation store,” said Jon Newman, superintendent of Millennium Construction. It’s a modern, open-concept shop with a donut case up front rather than against the wall. Besides hot coffee, it will have iced coffee, cold brew and nitro coffee on tap.

When open, Dunkin will keep 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. hours every day. It will have an app for “on the go ordering” and an ordering kiosk option.

Open

Vans opened this past week on the central corridor of the Fox River Mall. It’s a Southern California shoe and clothing company that takes inspiration from skateboarders’ style. Besides shoes and apparel, it sells skateboards. Find the new shop between Hollister and Dry Goods.

Open

Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Appleton opened Friday at 130 S. Nicolet Road in Grand Chute. The property is west of Interstate 41 and south of Outback Steakhouse. The franchise is owned and managed by Brandt Hospitality Group of Fargo, North Dakota.

Guest amenities include complimentary Wi-Fi, breakfast and an indoor pool. Its in-room entertainment technology lets guests “access their Hulu and Netflix accounts, as well as YouTube, Amazon Prime and HBO Go, through the HDTV.”

Closed

NewStyle Salons closed its Menasha location Saturday at 1774 Appleton Road.

“Unfortunately, the Menasha salon no longer fits our ‘A-location’ model,” said owner Glenn Karlov. “We want to relocate in Menasha, but so far no acceptable and available alternatives have surfaced.”

NewStyle continues to operate in Neenah, Darboy and Grand Chute. “Any former Menasha client can get a free haircut if they come to one of those locations by Jan. 31,” Karlov said.

Coming changes

Macy’s store in the Fox River Mall will get some much-needed updates before the holiday shopping season. Improvements include new lighting, flooring, carpeting and paint. A new Lids shop will expand the store’s athletic apparel selection.

“All work is scheduled to be completed by the end of the month,” said spokeswoman Carolyn Ng Cohen. The store remains open during renovation work.

Open

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul Appleton opened its seasonal Christmas store last Monday in the Northland Mall in Appleton. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday. The volunteer-staffed Christmas store sells donated decorations, ornaments, furniture and collectibles.

A second shop opening Saturday in the mall sells artificial trees, wreaths and outdoor decorations. Proceeds from both support the St. Vincent de Paul’s mission in the community. Information: www.svdpappleton.org or Facebook.
