Halloween on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime: 22 not-so-scary movies to stream for kids – USA TODAY

Halloween season is here and with it a host of scary movies perfect for getting cozy on family movie night.

The three big streaming giants — Amazon Prime, Hulu and Netflix — have the seasonal classics, like the uber-popular “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown,” to newcomer “The Quiet Place.”

We’ve rounded up almost two dozen of the best, appropriate for kid-viewing. We’ve even organized the scary showings by age.

Some of the movies, like “Hotel Transylvania” and “Beetlejuice,” may not scream Halloween, but they definitely have the seasonal spook factor. 

Most movies are free to subscribers, a few are available for rent or purchase. 

Toddlers, young ones

Arthur and the Haunted Tree House: Arthur, Buster and Ladonna find the tree house may be haunted during a sleepover. Rated: G. Streaming on Amazon Prime.

It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown: Linus awaits the Great Pumpkin and Charlie is invited to a Halloween party in this 1966 classic. Rated: Not rated. Rent or purchase on Amazon Prime.

Halloweentown: Marnie follows grandma (Debbie Reynolds) home for Halloween and discovers that she’s a witch. Rated: G. Stream on Hulu.

Mickey’s House of Villains: Jafar gets together the big-bads of Disney, including Cruella, Ursula and Captain Hook who take over the House of Mouse. Rated: G. Stream on Netflix.

The Spiderwick Chronicles: Fairies, goblins and more magical creatures turn out to be real after a young boy starts investigating the creepy house his family moved into. Rated: PG. Stream on Amazon Prime and Netflix.

Spookley the Square Pumpkin: A square pumpkin finds support from a scarecrow, three spiders and a couple of bats after being teased. Rated: G. Stream on Netflix

Disney’s Spooky Buddies: The dog buddies find their way through a spooky mention and try to stop Warwick the Warlock. Rated: G. Stream on Hulu. 

Super Monsters: Vida’s First Halloween: Vida learns the monsters’ Halloween traditions and go to a Dia de los Muertos party. Rated: TV-Y. Stream on Netflix.

Tweens

Beetlejuice: After a couple die in car accident, a new family moves in. They want them out and call Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton.) Rated: PG. Rent or buy on Amazon Prime. 

Coraline: Coraline finds a secret door where her “other mother” lives after moving into a new house. This mom promises everything she ever wanted but at what cost? Rated: PG. Stream on Netflix.

The Corpse Bride: Tim Burton’s stop-animation show looks at what happens when a groom accidentally married a corpse. Rated: PG. Stream now on Amazon Prime.

Fun Size: Wren and her friends look for her missing little brother on Halloween before her parents return from an out-of-town trip. Rated: PG-13. Stream on Hulu

Goosebumps: A teenage boy and his beautiful new neighbor try to contain the beasts he unleashed from her father’s “Goosebumps” book series. Rated: PG. Stream on Hulu.

Hotel Transylvania: It’s the very special 118th birthday of Dracula’s daughter. All his monster friends are invited to celebrate at his resort, but a human boy shows up and throws everything into chaos. Rated: PG. Stream on Hulu. 

Teens 

Before I Wake: Foster parents are disturbed to learn a boy who comes to live with them can magically make real the stuff of his dreams. The good and bad. Rated: PG-13. Stream now on Netflix

Ghostbusters (2016): A team of three scientists first try to prove ghosts exists and then contain them as thousands are unleashed. Rated: PG-13. Stream on Hulu.

Tyler Perry’s Boo 2! A Madea Halloween: Madea, Aunt Bam and Hattie find their way to a haunted campground and end up fighting goblins and monsters. Rated: PG-13. Stream on Hulu.

Practical Magic: Two sisters born into a family of witches try to lead separate lives until death strikes someone close to one and they must rely on each to get through it. Rated: PG-13. Rent or buy on Amazon Prime.

A Quiet Place: Parents (Emily Blunt and John Krasinski) try to protect their children by teaching them to live silently while figuring out what’s killing anyone who makes a sound. Rated: PG-13. Stream on Hulu.

The Sixth Sense: A boy sees “dead people” and a psychologist attempts to help before his own world starts sliding away from him. Rated: PG-13. Stream on Netflix.
