An homage to mediocre movies at the Texas Theatre – The Dallas Morning News
On the first Tuesday of every month at the Texas Theatre, Tuesday Night Trash celebrates B-movies.
This month, TNT screened
Radical Jack
, an unintentionally hilarious action film starring Billy Ray Cyrus that the host of the event, Ben Jousan, described as a “
Roadhouse
rip-off.” The event always attracts a rowdy crowd, but this month, Jousan decided to fan the flames and make it more interactive with the help of guest co-host Bryan Walior (who assists with production on the horror series
The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs
).

Walker,
Texas Ranger
and
Tango &
Cash
, choreographed a barroom brawl behind the screen before the film. From there, the hosts encouraged the audience to drink and shout “radical!” during certain scenes. For good measure, they also passed out 3D glasses and screened the 3D music video for The Judds’ 1990 single “Love Can Build a Bridge” during intermission.
For the next installment on Oct. 1, Jousan plans to screen a 35 millimeter edition of the 1983 science fiction horror film
The Deadly Spawn
, provided by the G. William Jones Film and Video Collection at Southern Methodist University.
