Mike ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino’s Wife Lauren Posts Photo from ‘Goodfellas’ to Mark His Release from Prison – Showbiz Cheat Sheet
Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is a free man. The Jersey Shore Family Vacation star was released from prison on September 12 after completing an eight-month sentence for tax evasion.
Sorrentino walked out of FCI Otisville in upstate New York shortly after 8 a.m. on Thursday, and MTV cameras were there to document his release for the next season of Jersey Shore Family Vacation, Radar Online reported.
Now that he’s out of prison, Sorrentino can reunite with his wife of 10 months, Lauren Sorrentino. And she’s understandably thrilled to have her husband out from behind bars.
Lauren Sorrentino shared a photo from ‘Goodfellas’ to celebrate Mike’s release
While being separated from her spouse has been tough, Lauren seems to have a sense of humor about things. To celebrate her hubby’s release, she shared a photo from Martin Scorcese’s film Goodfellas of Karen Hill (Lorraine Bracco) leaning against a car as she waits for her husband Henry Hill (Ray Liotta) to get out of prison.
Lauren captioned the post with a single word: “Mood.”
It’s not the first time the couple has referenced the Oscar-winning mob movie. In January, shortly before the Situation reported to prison, he tweeted an image of Liotta as Hill saying “Now, take me to jail” along with the words “The comeback is always greater than the setback.”
The Situation is also celebrating his release on social media
Now that he’s out of prison, The Situation is back on social media. He spent the morning retweeting messages of support and congratulations from fans. He also tweeted his own message after his release, writing “Turn up we free !!! #freesitch.”
“We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life,” the couple said in a statement to ET. “Thank you to our family, friends and fans for the continuous love and support during this time, it brought us so much peace and comfort.”
“We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby situations!” they added. “We truly believe that the comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback and we can’t wait to show the world ours.”
A photographer captured a pic of the couple soon after The Situation’s release. From the looks of things, he spent a lot of time in prison working out, with the reality TV star displaying his muscles in a short-sleeve T-shirt.
The ‘Jersey Shore’ cast is happy to have their friend back

The Jersey Shore shore cast also took to social media to celebrate their friend’s freedom. Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi couldn’t put her feelings into words. Instead, she tweeted a gif from Seinfeld of Elaine, Jerry, and George celebrating.
“The fam is back together,” tweeted Jenni “Jwoww” Farley.
While Mike is out of prison, he’s not quite home free. He’ll be subject to two years of supervised release and must complete 500 hours of community service.
