J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot strikes huge, exclusive deal with WarnerMedia – Polygon

Bad Robot, J.J. Abrams’ production company, will partner with WarnerMedia to produce and develop television shows, movies, and games and digital services. The agreement is set to run through 2024. Allegedly, the deal was valued at $500 million.

Abrams started Bad Robot in 2001, creating Alias and Lost for television in subsequent years. Theatrical projects include the 2009 Star Trek, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Last year, Abrams started an aggressive search for a big media partnership.

The deal with Warner is not unexpected. Previously, Abrams worked closely with Warner Bros. when Bad Robot entered an exclusive television deal with Warner Bros. television. Under that deal, shows such as Almost Human, Person of Interest, and Westworld ran.

Under this new partnership, Bad Robot will create television products for all WarnerMedia television properties, including Warner’s upcoming streaming service HBO Max. Theatrically, Bad Robot will finish up existing commitments, such as December’s Rise of Skywalker, before going exclusive with Warner.
