John Travolta Just Explained His Version Of That Whole Taylor Swift VMAs Mix-Up – BuzzFeed

Earlier this week, John Travolta made headlines again for “pulling an Adele Dazeem” at the 2019 Video Music Awards and accidentally handing Taylor Swift’s Video of the Year award to Jade Jolie, a drag queen who impersonates Taylor in her “You Need To Calm Down” video.

John Travolta mistook Jade Jolie for Taylor Swift when handing over the award for ‘Video of the Year.’ 😂

But, according to John, there’s more to the story — in an interview with Hot 93.3, he was asked about the whole mix-up, and explained his version of what went down.

He started by explaining that he’s had a relationship with Taylor over the years: “I’ve been friends with Taylor Swift,” he said. “She’s been so good to my daughter and my wife at concerts and I’ve written her notes and she’s written back.”

“The first thing she did [at the VMAs] was thank me for the notes, acknowledging that,” he added.

“There were so many people that bombarded the stage, that I was looking for her. So the video has me looking, trying to find her…I thought it was so funny the way it was interpreted. And it was cool, I didn’t care.”

That’s cute, but I’m still kinda over here like:

It appears the king of Adele Dazeem yearns to out-Dazeem himself, so he’s pretty amused by the whole thing: “I sometimes fantasize, what if I had given it to her…that would have been awesome,” he said. “I should have just gone all the way with it. I have a sense of humor about all of that.”

And that’s John’s take on that. Watch the whole interview moment here:
