Reader question: I have a membership at The Creeks at Ivy Acres golf course, but the course has been closed for over a month after the big storm hit. Have you heard when will the course be reopened and what will be done for the membership for the lost time?
Answer: The Creeks at Ivy Acres has not yet reopened at N3594 Market Road in Hortonville.
At its website www.golfthecreeks.com, an update was posted today called Updated Status—Tornado at The Creeks.
In it, the property’s four-member ownership group details the damage to the property from the July 20 storm, gives some photos and explains the insurance process they’re going through.
“Our frustration with the process and the detrimental effect of the delay is beyond description,” they wrote.
“As of today, we are still waiting for our insurance company to finish its evaluation of the loss and issue payment for the repairs. In an effort to keep the grass alive and the cleanup moving forward, management has personally invested over $50,000 to meet continuing payroll and overhead costs that don’t stop just because the business is temporarily closed.”
They said the course will reopen but don’t give a date. They also say they’ll rebuild or repair damaged buildings, including the new event barn that opened just two weeks before the storm.
To answer your question about reimbursement, see the portion that states, “We plan to, once the insurance claim is resolved, reimburse the membership for lost access to the course for prepaid membership fees cut short by the storm.”
