“Obi-Wan” Series Confirmed, “Clone Wars” Set – Dark Horizons

Obi Wan Series Confirmed Clone Wars Set

Ewan McGregor has confirmed that he will be reprising the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi for a still-untitled live-action Disney+ series about the famed Jedi.

Producer Kathleen Kennedy and McGregor himself appeared at Disney’s biannual D23 convention in Anaheim on Friday where Kennedy said: “We have all the scripts written we’re ready to start shooting next year.”

McGregor previously played the character in the three “Star Wars” and there has been talk for years that he would return as Obi-Wan for a standalone film, but those plans were reportedly paused after “Solo” disappointed.

Now it has been retooled with a new series in mind. No other details were available except that it will take place several years after the prequels, during the events of “Solo: A Star Wars Story” (specifically one year after Han leaves Qi’ra behind but two years before the main narrative). Check out the updated timeline below.

The Obi-Wan series is the third live-action “Star Wars” show coming to Disney+ following “The Mandalorian” launching in November and the still-untitled Cassian Andor series which will shoot in the UK early next year.

Also announced was that the seventh season of “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” will premiere in February, and that the Disney+ service will be the streaming home of all of the “Star Wars” films.
