All the comments made by Miley Cyrus, Liam Hemsworth and their social circle about the split – Vogue Australia

Unpacking what everyone has said.

When news broke over the weekend that Hunger Games star Liam Hemsworth and his wife of less than a year, Mother’s Daughter singer, Miley Cyrus, had split, fans’ hearts broke for the couple. Even though they had only tied the knot in December last year, the A-list couple had been together on and off (mostly on) for nearly 10 years after meeting on the set of 2010 movie The Last Song.

But, since the news broke, the couple haven’t had a quiet moment to be left alone to heal in private, with both Cyrus and Hemsworth along with a number of people in their celebrity circle commenting in one way or another on the split and there’s a lot to unpack, starting with Cyrus’s comments.

Cyrus initially sparked rumours of the split when she posted a snap to Instagram without her wedding ring while on a girls’ trip in Italy with her sister Brandi Cyrus and friend Kaitlynn Carter (who happens to be Brody Jenner’s ex-wife).

People reported Cyrus’s rep confirmed the split in a statement and further reported the couple had been separated for a few months. Cyrus then posted a number of captions on Instagram that appear to indirectly reference the split, such as “change is inevitable” and “New day. New adventure.”

While Cyrus hasn’t commented directly yet, she was reportedly photographed kissing Kaitlynn Carter during the trip which is a statement of a different kind. According to People, a source said Cyrus, 26, “really fought to make it work” with Hemsworth.

Hemsworth hadn’t commented on the split until it was reported that while he was spotted getting frozen yoghurt with his brother, Chris Hemsworth, in Byron Bay on Monday, he told The Daily Mail Australia, “You don’t understand what it’s like” when he was asked about the break-up.

News that the actor had broken his silence then made headlines, leading him to take to Instagram to announce that he had not spoken to the publication, and the rumours were false.

Sharing an image of a sunset, Hemsworth captioned the post: “Hi all Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward. This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets.”

“Any reported quotes attributed to me are false,” he added, before signing off with “Peace and Love.”

Meanwhile, Kaitlynn Carter’s ex-husband, Brody Jenner, got involved, writing on an Instagram post of Carter and Cyrus posted by Carter: “Hot girl summer”.

Jenner then posted on his own Instagram “Don’t let yesterday take up too much of today,” to which Jenner’s The Hills: New Beginning’s co-star, Brandon Thomas Lee, commented “Let’s round this scandal out and post a pic of us making out.”

Jenner then responded “@brandonthomaslee watch out! Pics of Liam and I holding hands on the beach coming soon”.

Cyrus jumped into the conversation with a reference to a scene on The Hills: New Beginnings when Brody slept in his car after fighting with Carter, writing “@brodyjenner go take a nap in your truck and cool off #HotGirlSummer”.

E! News reports that after that Instagram round, Brandon Thomas Lee said in an interview that he thought the whole situation seemed “fake” and he actually didn’t want to get involved. “I was just like, ‘This is getting out of hand’. This whole thing is just so, like — I don’t know. I didn’t even want to get involved with it. It just seems so fake to me. It’s just like — why? They’re just obviously messing with their two ex-husbands. And they’re all friends. It just seems so ridiculous to me.”
