Update 8/6/2019: George W. Bush just became a grandpa for the third time. His daughter, Jenna Bush Hager, gave birth to a baby boy this past Friday.
“Welcome to the world my darling Henry Harold ‘Hal’ Hager!” Bush Hager wrote in an Instagram post announcing the news. “Hal came into the world Friday, August 2, 2019 at 9:02am and our life has never been sweeter.”
Shortly after Hal’s arrival, he was introduced to his extended family, including the former president, whose grandchildren affectionately call him “Jefe.”
“@laurawbush and I are thrilled to welcome Henry Harold Hager to our family. We are happy for the proud parents, @jennabhager and Henry. And pleased that Mila and Poppy have a little brother to love,” wrote Bush in an Instagram post, alongside several family photos.
“We thank God that mom and baby are healthy, and we look forward to many years of loving the boy known as Hal.”
Original Story 8/5/2019: Congratulations are in order for Jenna Bush Hager and her husband Henry Hager. She gave birth to a baby boy, named Henry Harold Hager, on Friday morning.
“I have a new baby boy. Henry and I met our little boy on Friday morning,” Bush Hager said on the “Today” show Monday via phone. “His name is Henry Harold, named after my grandpa, and Henry for my husband, and we call him Hal.”
The mom of three added, “He’s a beautiful, funny little man,”
Bush Hager shared a series of adorable family photos to Instagram this morning announcing his birth. Bush Hager’s parents, George W. and Laura Bush, her husband, Henry, and their two daughters all snuggled up with the newest member of the family.
Bush Hager captioned the post: “Welcome to the world my darling Henry Harold ‘Hal’ Hager! Hal came into the world Friday, August 2, 2019 at 9:02am and our life has never been sweeter.”
Predictions about Bush Hager’s baby’s name were pretty spot on. One leading possibility was Harold, which is inspired by her late grandfather on her mom’s side. “We’ve always thought if we had a boy, we were going to name him after . But we haven’t had a boy yet,” she shared on “Today” during an emotional reading with Hollywood Medium Tyler Henry. Now that she and her husband have a boy, they included a tribute to her grandfather with his middle name.
Bush Hager announced her pregnancy live on the “Today” show April 22.
“Yes, I’m pregnant,” she shared on air. “Y’all, I’m very pregnant, so I don’t know how I hid this.” Bush Hager said she was, specifically, five-and-a-half months pregnant at that time. Speculation about her late July and early August due date seemed to be right in line with his arrival, too.
Almost simultaneously, Hoda Kotb adopted a second baby girl. Bush Hager went out on maternity leave last week.
