BROOKLYN, N.Y. – R&B singer R. Kelly entered a not guilty plea in Brooklyn federal court Friday in connection with sex crimes charges.
The judge also denied bail and ordered him to be detained until trial.
Kelly allegedly recruited girls and young women in an illegal sex scheme.
He’s charged with racketeering, kidnapping and sexual exploitation of a child, and faces similar charges in a Chicago case.
If convicted, the combined maximum sentence in both cases is 275 years.
He has already pleaded not guilty to the charges in Chicago.
