Two long-anticipated chicken restaurants are hiring for their West College Avenue locations less than a mile from each other.

•Chick-fil-A, the third biggest restaurant chain in the U.S. after McDonald’s and Starbucks, opens its first northeastern Wisconsin location Aug. 22 at 3775 W. College Ave., Grand Chute.

This week the company announced the name of its local franchise owner, Eric Krebs. He’s a Wisconsin native returning home after owning a Chick-fil-A near Minneapolis. Krebs said he was eager to move back to be near relatives, including some in the Neenah/Menasha area.

Krebs is now hiring 120 employees — roughly 40 percent full time and 60 percent part time — for the restaurant.

“They can go online (cfaappleton.com) or pick up an application in the front of the store,” he said. “We also have a hiring office behind the Kwik Trip.” Positions include management, kitchen staff, cashiers, dining room servers and drive-thru staff.

•Popeyes Lousiana Kitchen is building its first Fox Cities restaurant at 2800 W. College Ave. in Appleton. Its opening date has not been announced, but its initial estimate was in August.

It will hire 80 for this location. Find job listings by searching for Popeyes Appleton jobs on the internet. Its jobs are posted on LinkedIn and various other jobs websites.

This will be Popeyes’ second northeastern Wisconsin location after Manitowoc. It has also leased a Fond du Lac building for a third location.
