The former C.U. Saloon building at 409 W. College Ave. in downtown Appleton has a new owner.
The C.U. Saloon country music bar closed in June 2018 across from the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. The building has been vacant since then.
State records show the building was purchased July 10 for $255,000 by a company called “409 on the Avenue” owned by Laura Saint Geours.
Saint Geours is also co-owner of the Pisco Mar restaurant a block away at 528 W. College Ave. Separately, she owned the building that housed Author’s Kitchen + Bar on Appleton Street that burned down in March.
Saint Geours said she won’t be operating her own business in the former C.U. Saloon building.
“It was a good investment,” she said. “I have a prospect who wants to rent the building and open a new restaurant/bar there in the beginning of 2020.”
Remodeling will begin around the middle of August.
