Maleficent 2 trailer reveals Angelina Jolie’s fairy family – Polygon

The big trailer for Maleficent: Mistress of All Evil reveals more of the dark fairy’s involvement with soon-to-be Queen Aurora’s political movement. Turns out she’s the ultimate wedding mom.
The sequel brings Angelina Jolie back to the titular role and Elle Fanning as Aurora, and introduces Michelle Pfeiffer as the queen of a neighboring kingdom. The movie will focus on Aurora and Maleficent coming together to protect the magical wilderness that surrounds the kingdom. The first trailer — set to a trailercore version of “Season of the Witch” — hinted at the possible conflict between the two women, as Maleficent takes matters into her own hands despite Aurora’s more restrained political approach.
This new trailer dives deeper into this conflict. Aurora hopes to marry Prince Phillip, but Maleficent isn’t having it. But the wedding would unite Ulstead and the neighboring Moors, giving the nuptials greater stakes across the land. According to Disney’s summary, Maleficent and Aurora “are pulled apart to opposing sides in a Great War, testing their loyalties and causing them to question whether they can truly be family.” A trailer stinger — real thing — reveals that Maleficent may have her own family history to deal with, as several other members of her species show up for the fun.
Maleficent: Mistress of All Evil heads to theaters on Oct. 18. It will be the fourth Disney live-action rendition of a classic animated film to hit theaters this year — with a fifth, Lady and the Tramp, headed exclusively to Disney Plus in the fall.
