Noah Rooney was lights out on the bump for Perham. However, he did not factor in the decision. Rooney struck out 16 Dickinson batters in seven innings of work and was lifted due to pitch count. He walked one and yielded just two hits.
Dickinson broke a scoreless tie with a run in the eighth, but Perham responded with a pair of their own to secure the win.
Small ball worked for Dickinson in the eighth when they grabbed the lead with a pair of singles and a sacrifice bunt mixed in.
However, Perham quickly responded with a pair of runs in the eighth for the win. Max Tostenson was hit by a pitch, which was followed by a walk to Devin Meyer. Rooney was hit by a pitch to load the bases for the Buzz. Jace Kovash reached on an infield single, which allowed Tostenson to score and even the game up. Carter Mulcahy secured the win with a line drive single to left, scoring Meyer for the win.
It was perfect timing for Mulcahy’s first hit of the night. Perham finished with just four hits in the win. Maddux Kovash had two hits, while Jace Kovash and Mulcahy each had a hit.
Michael Benke picked up the win in relief. He allowed one run on two hits in an inning of relief.
The Buzz continue a busy stretch with a doubleheader against Thief River Falls at 5 and 7 p.m. at Krueger Field on June 28.
