Bradley Cooper and Irina Shayk have reportedly separated after four years of dating, according to People.
This comes after multiple media reports over the past week of trouble in the relationship. On top of that, Cooper is still dealing with the fallout of his intimate Oscars performance with Lady Gaga, with led to a peak in speculation that the “A Star Is Born” co-stars had fallen for one another. So of course, Twitter lit up with all three names when this breakup story broke wide.
“They haven’t been getting along for a while,” an insider told Us Weekly of Cooper and Shayk. “They are not in a great place.”
In a new report, the outlet says that despite the split, Shayk will continue living with Cooper in his home.
“It’s complicated because of the baby,” another insider told Us Weekly. Representatives for Cooper and Shayk have not yet responded to TooFab’s request for comment.
According to Page Six, the relationship has been rocky for quite a while. Back in October, a source told the outlet that “they are miserable together. They have been for months. He doesn’t drink and is into spirituality. She wants to go out.”
That timeline puts the rockiness occurring at the same time Cooper was on the promotional tour for his Oscar-winning blockbuster “A Star Is Born.” According to ET, Shayk was actually considering a split during the height of this publicity blitz over the film.
“They talked things through a great deal and seemed to hold off and keep up appearances for the time being,” a source told the outlet. “It was recommended they delay a split at what seemed to be the peak of his career because the negative attention would take away from the excitement of the release.”
During this time, there was rampant and baseless speculation that Cooper and co-star Lady Gaga had developed feelings for one another, reaching a peak after their intimate Oscars performance in February. Gaga quickly dismissed it as on-screen chemistry, mutual admiration and a close friendship … not to mention acting.
“People saw love and, guess what, that’s what we wanted to you to see,” she told Jimmy Kimmel shortly after the event. “This is a love song.”
After the awards season, Cooper reportedly shifted his focus back to Shayk and his family. He and Shayk are famously secretive abut their personal lives, even keeping the birth of their child secret from the media for several weeks.
“Because my work requires me to be out there, I just decided my personal life will be quiet,” Shayk told Glamour UK back in February. “That’s why it’s called personal, because it’s something for you and your family and I feel happy with it.”
Unfortunately, it looks as if the efforts to shift their focus on their relationship and family have not worked out over the past few months. It is encouraging, though, that they are reportedly working together for the well-being of their child and hopefully they can maintain that respect for one another through this difficult chapter in their lives.
