- Kate Middleton is attending a state banquet thrown in Donald and Melania Trump’s honor, as the American president and first lady visit the United Kingdom.
- At the banquet, Duchess Kate is wearing her recently awarded Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO) for “services to the sovereign,” and her favored Lover’s Knot tiara.
- Kate is often seen wearing the tiara at important events-she donned the Lover’s Knot tiara at a Buckingham Palace state banquet in October 2018.
Donald Trump is making his very first official state visit to the United Kingdom, and the royal family has stepped out to greet the American president and his wife.
Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall initially met with the Trumps upon their arrival, with Prince Harry joining the visitors-along with Jared and Ivanka Kushner-for a private luncheon at Buckingham Palace.
To mark the arrival of the Americans, Queen Elizabeth is also hosting a state banquet at Buckingham Palace. While Kate Middleton wasn’t present throughout the day to meet with the guests, she put in an appearance for the evening function, wearing the Lover’s Knot tiara.
The Duchess of Cambridge is also wearing her Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order (GCVO), which the queen awarded her in April 2019 for “services to the sovereign.”

Kate has worn the Lover’s Knot tiara-which was favored by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana-on several occasions. In October 2018, she wore the incredible piece at a state banquet held at Buckingham Palace in honor of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.
Duchess Kate also wore the same tiara in December 2018, when she attended the Queen’s Diplomatic Corps Reception at Buckingham Palace. According to Town & Country, the headpiece was made in 1914 by jeweler Garrard for Queen Mary, who was Queen Elizabeth II’s grandmother.
