It’s a bumper edition of Media Watch this morning, with the back pages awash with transfer gossip.
Let’s start with a report in the Guardian that says City are on the brink of completing a move for Leicester City forward Riyad Mahrez.
The Algerian has been linked with City for some time, and Jamie Jackson believes the finer contract details have now been sorted and an announcement will be made before the end of the week.
“Manchester City are optimistic Riyad Mahrez will be unveiled as their £60m record signing by Friday, after they made a breakthrough with Leicester City,” Jackson writes.
“The proposed transfer had stalled because Leicester wanted the City winger Patrick Roberts as part of the deal but it is thought that demand has been dropped. Mahrez had been holding out for a sizeable sum he believed Leicester owed him, and this may now have been resolved.”

Meanwhile, Adrian Kajumba, writing in the Mirror, says City could be about to launch a bid for Croatia’s World Cup star Mateo Kovacic – if a deal for Napoli’s Jorginho cannot be struck.
The report also suggests Miralem Pjanic of Juventus and Southampton’s Mario Lemina are also on City’s midfield watchlist.
“Manchester City have made an enquiry for Mateo Kovacic amid doubts over their pursuit of Jorginho,” Kajumba writes.

“Real Madrid’s Croatia international Kovacic is one of the midfielders on the champion Blues ‘ list of alternatives in case they miss out on Napoli star Jorginho.
“City have contingency plans in place with boss Pep Guardiola having identified landing one more midfielder as one of his summer priorities.
“Kovacic, who will be part of the squad trying to dump England out in Wednesday night’s World Cup semi-final, is on that list along with Miralem Pjanic of Juventus and Southampton’s Mario Lemina.”

And, finally, BBC Sport say Blues goalkeeper Angus Gunn could be set for a move away from the Club this summer.
Gunn spent last season on loan at Norwich City and impressed, and Southampton are now believed to have made an offer to take him to St. Mary’s on a permanent deal.
“Southampton are close to signing England Under-21 goalkeeper Angus Gunn from Manchester City,” BBC Sport’s Simon Stone writes.
“Gunn, who has interested other clubs, has yet to sign a contract, but is set to leave the Etihad Stadium, where he is behind Ederson and Claudio Bravo in the fight for a first-team place.
“He spent last season on loan at Norwich, the former club of his father, retired Scotland goalkeeper Bryan Gunn.
“The Norwich-born 22-year-old trained with England before the World Cup.
“Gunn, an ever-present for Norwich in the Championship last season, has been a target for Southampton, who shared the goalkeeping duties between Fraser Forster and Alex McCarthy last season.”
