43 Couture Fashion Week Dresses Brides-to-be Need to See

We all know fashion trends begin and end with Paris Couture Fashion Week. Every fashion trend that makes its way to wedding dresses, first shows itself on the runways every July and January in Paris. Major designer fashion houses like Chanel, Dior, Valentino, Ralph & Russo (the same brand responsible for Meghan Markle’s engagement photo dress), Elie Saab, and Galia Lahav, show their haute couture collections every season, and most of them close each runway show with a show-stopping bride. While the bridal finale tends to drop jaws across Paris, the collections themselves are works of art that bring along everything we should expect to see trickle down to ready-to-wear, and eventually wedding dresses. But what does that mean for you and your wedding dress dear bride? Trends, trends, trends. We’re rounding up our favorite trends from the Paris Couture Fashion Week runways.

Colorful wedding gowns don’t feel as boundary-pushing as they once did—blush, blue, and even yellow-tinted wedding dresses are not as surprising. The new crop of colors takes that look into a decidedly cooler palette with greys of all shades, and refreshing and calming lavenders take over for the pinker hues. Feathers continue to be at the top of the trending texture list, and were seen as accents and even all over dresses at Valentino. Bold shoulders and big skirts (think Princess Diana’s wedding look) were also all over the runways, making room for another 80s trend: power dressing. The tailored power look of the 1980s was seen on suiting, capes, sharply deep cut necklines, and one-shoulder frocks.
