The actress tells ‘Today’s’ Savannah Guthrie that she and her former ‘House of Cards’ co-star “knew each other between action and cut.”
Robin Wright is breaking her silence on the allegations against her former House of Cards co-star Kevin Spacey, who was accused of sexual harassment and assault and subsequently fired from their Netflix series.
On Sunday, NBC’s Today released a teaser clip of an interview Wright gave to Savannah Guthrie that is set to air Monday morning. In the short clip, Wright implies she didn’t really socialize with Spacey outside of work; the clip also suggests she wasn’t aware of his alleged behavior.
“Kevin and I knew each other between action and cut and in between setups, where we would giggle,” the actress says in a teaser clip previewing the interview. “I didn’t really — I didn’t know the man. I knew the incredible craftsman that he is.”

In October, Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp accused Spacey of making a pass toward him when he was only 14 and when Spacey was 26. In response, Spacey tweeted his “sincerest apology” and came out as a gay man, provoking a furious backlash.
Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that season six was almost entirely written before Rapp went public and that production on the first two episodes had already been completed and a table read for episode three was on the schedule. Netflix and producers Media Rights Capital said they were “deeply troubled” by Rapp’s claim and traveled to the show’s Maryland set to ensure cast and crew felt safe and supported. Production on season six was suspended a day later.
After several House of Cards employees also accused Spacey of inappropriate behavior, Netflix officially cut ties with the actor, whose character was written out of the show. The writing staff reworked the season, and it was later revealed that the eight-episode final season would now revolve around Wright’s character.
Production resumed early this year for a fall premiere.
Since Rapp’s first allegation, more than 15 men have come forward with sexual misconduct allegations against Spacey, who is being investigated over at least three cases by the London police. Spacey has disappeared from the public eye since November, when his rep said that the actor would be seeking “evaluation and treatment.” He has denied the allegations through his lawyer.
